AppleTV Hard Drive Completely Erased! Please Help!
A few months ago I bought a new 160GB AppleTV with the intension of running OS X on it for a music server and to download some torrents. I downloaded the ready to go 10.5.5 image and put it on an external hard drive as instructed with Carbon Copy Cloner. after I did that I copied the DMG file and carbon copy cloner to the root of the drive and then did the steps to make it a recovery partition. once I did that I plugged in a USB Hub so I would could load up from the drive and have a mouse and keyboard. That all went perfect and it loaded up, so I opened Disk Utility on the AppleTV and Partitioned the AppleTV's HDD as one partition and used carbon copy cloner to copy the image to the actual machine. It worked and OS X booted right from the machine with nothing attached and it ran great, but I attempted an update to 10.5.8 and it crashed it. for some reason at that time my external drive fried so I left it alone for about a month. now I got a new external drive and went to do the same thing cause I dont really want the AppleTV system, just os x and I figured it would be the same thing, but what happens now is that the appletv loads the MAC OS X boot logo and the wheel thing starts to spin bout after about 5 minutes it gets choppy and doesnt start at all. Now i would be happy even if I can get the AppleTV system back. I have tried everything I can find on the internet and have a few recovery images and such but am not have luck with any of them. Also, I really dont want to open it up because Its new and I dont want to loose the warrenty, and I dont have the adapter for conecting the disk through USB and there is nowhere close to me that would have something like that. Can someone please help?
Thanks, Leighton
