ok, I see the issue. recovery-0.6.tar.gz create a directory called recovery, in step 8 copy the contents of this directory into the Patch directory on your desktop.

The contents of the extracted recovery directory are moved into the Patch directory, not the directory itself.

I will make a post to this since this is kinda my problem.

First, one of our members brick960, from ATVPatch.com decided to leak our 2.4 patch to the internet. upon finding this out. Actually some one from awkwardtv told me this. We disabled 2.4 from being installed. And removed it from our website.

Well 2 days later me and the creator of the 2.4 ATVPatch got in an argument and he then left my site to start a new one. ATVMod.com. He then decided to fuck up the 2.4 patch and to put a script in to the 2.4 patch that will fuck up anyone's appletv that download's and installs it. i can not stop it as i did not create the software, the software is not on my website anymore, and the files hosted that will download and install are not handled by me but the creator of ATVmod.com

He claims to have a patchstick fix at ATVMod.com, this is why we made the 19.99 fix, but never launched the fix publicly, some one did some snooping around and found it, i actually forgot all about it and now have takin it down.

I dont want anyone to get the wrong opinion about ATVPatch.com i know davilla will start spitting some shit at me as he dont like me, but i never did anything to him, only the creator of ATVMod.com has, as i follow every rule of his software.

I must stress i can not fix this as the ATVPatch 2.4 has spread like wildfire on torrent sites and we are getting a bad rep for it, when it is really ATVMod.com hosting the files that will mess up your AppleTV.

I hope this will enlighten some people and quit saying bad stuff about me on this thread as i have nothing to do with this file.
Visit http://ATV4Windows.com A website compiled to help the windows user hack-up his ATV.

If anybody should be interrested then the image can be found from (hope I don't get killed for posting those links ):

I just erased the USB stick (1GB) using diskutil GUI (HFS journaled) and then from terminal ran:

    sudo dd if=/dev/disk<X> of=Desktop/recovery_fix.img bs=1m

<X> should obviously be replaced with the USB stick device ID (can be found from doing a "diskutil list")

    Cheers,
    Alex

Need more info about what OS you are trying to create the patchstick under. Both OSX and Linux contain the "dd" command. You need a helper app under Windows.

Who's discussion the use of atv-bootloader here, not me. You followed the rules regarding usage as we discussed privately. End of story.

FACT, the taint was from the scripts downloaded from atv4window.com which you control. FACT, the scripts were tainted on June 24th and you left them in place. FACT, the leaked 2.4 is identical to your official version. Who did the taint is immaterial at this point. The FACT is that you were in control of the tainted scripts and did nothing except to try and profit from it.

I speak facts, others can draw their own conclusion. There is no spitting shit here, only facts.

Yes but I don't know what you know

When you insert the USB flash drive, the system will see it and create a device to handle the drive.

Under OSX, use "diskutil list" from the terminal before and after you insert the flash drive. From the second "diskutil list", you will see the new disk reference. Then

    sudo dd if=recovery_fix.img of=/dev/disk<X> bs=1m

Where <X> is the disk reference (i.e. disk1)

Under Linux use "ls /dev/sd*" from a terminal before and after you insert the flash drive. The second "ls /dev/sd*" will show the new disk device reference. Then

    sudo dd if=recovery_fix.img of=/dev/sd<X> bs=1M

again where <X> is the disk reference (i.e sdb)

Thanks Davilla, I saw where the linux dd command and the Leopard comand is nearly the same. Could I do the whole process in Linux? I have tried a different tutrioal that I have found that was suppose to work in Linux, however, it did not.

Yes, it should boot and then restore the recovery partition which was erased by atvpatch.

After it restores the recovery partition, reboot again and the AppleTV should boot to the recovery menu, select "factory restore" and this should restore to the AppleTV 2.02 update. Any modifications to OSBoot by previous patchstick will be over-written and lost.
