Apple TV with Composite Cable
So I plugged my Apple TV to my old television with a composite cable. I have the yellow cable plugged into the green slot in Apple TV and I see a clear black and white picture. My problem is how to get color. I found this site (http://wiki.awkwardtv.org/wiki/Composite) but I don't know how to follow the instructions! I'm very noob in these things! Can anybody help me?
P.S. It's a new Apple TV with software 2.1 and already has SSH installed via the iclarified tutorial (http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=791)
The clear b/w picture has nothing to do with composite, but thats a component signal that looks like the composite signal. Composite and Component are not the same!
I use one of my component connectors for my composite signal with a composite kext file. 'Kext' files are kernel extensions. Kext files can only be loaded with apples permission. So you need to load the composite kernel extension but you don't have apples permission to do so.
Offcourse, there is a solution. The kernel extensions enabler, aka 'turbo_kext_enabler' (http://0xfeedbeef.com/appletv/). From this website you can download the 'turbo_kext_enabler 2'. Extract this file to get: 'turbo_kext_enabler 2.bin'.
copy this file to you ATV (AppleTV) with ssh of some other way. (how? google / iclarified / etc). The http://0xfeedbeef.com/appletv/ website gives examples of how to load a kextfile.
This must help you in the right direction.
