Hello!
I jailbroke my iPhone 4s using absinthe and now want to unlock it - I'm using a Gevey Ultra S sim. It's locked to Orange UK and I'm trying to Change to Vodafone Ireland.

Version 5.0.1 (9A406)
Firmware 1.0.14

At each attempt I get this message:

"Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone of visit a supported Carrier's store to receive a replacement SIM card"

Any advice?

I have a Gevey Sim as well and I have the same predicament. Don't have and won't be able to get original carrier simcard. Can't activate, therefore can't jailbreak, therefore can't unlock. I have been tinkering with iPhone unlocking since 2G, thanks to the monumental efforts to the original iPhone hackers. Activating has usually been achieved quite easily. From all my research and googling thus far I see no solutions to activating a 4S without original carrier sim. If anyone has any solutions and pointers I would be more than happy to follow.

A heads up to those considering Gevey Sim. It can't do anything for you unless the phone is activated first. That information is not very obvious on the site until you order the gevey sim (you get that info via email) or you read through the instructions. I didn't read a more updated version of the instructions and I am now stuck with a useless gevey sim. Still hoping that the hackers can pull something off though.

as kazee has written. If the 4S is unactivated there's no way in the moment to make a hacktivation.
If your 4S is activated und you wanna use the Gevey Ultra Sim and it doesn't work, send Gevey an email about your problems. They should help you. But remember as I heared it's illegal in the most countries to use the Gevey.

Hi guys I have a bit of an update on this issue.

As originally mentioned I tried to unlock using Gevey on an unactivated iPhone 4s. It would not work because there was no way to bypass activation. A few days ago I got hold of a Verizon iphone 4s Sim. I decided to try it in my GSM iPhone. I went through the usual activation steps. Getting to the error point where it says "Only compatible sims...". At that screen I popped in the Gevey thing with the reset sim (White one). Lo and behold the gevey Select iPhone carrier sreenncame up. I tried it a few times just to verify it worked. Then I went through the steps of selecting carrier, entering 7 digit carrier code and the phone was activated. I jailbroke with absinthe and now I am unlocked via gevey sim.
