To bring balance, don't forget that some new and old macs had overheat and other issues too. I noticed that myself on my first intel iMac which froze about 3 times a day (in both OS X and XP.) Also XP and osx86 on my later PC begun to crash once and the fix was simple, remove a faulty dimm (identified by memtest86.) The power of hardware issues shouldn't be underestimated, afterall the software runs at its mercy.
