Yes, I don't have the Push fix installed (caused too much battery drain). I get a notification (sound and vibrate) that I have new email. I don't get an icon in the status bar (Status Icons) like I do with something in the inbox, but when I go to the account>exchange email> and look at the folder list, it shows how many new in each folder without having to connect and fetch. I am assuming you are using Exchange or yahoo or something that supports push-mail and multiple folders...
