iPhone OS 3.0 Shake to Shuffle Hack
I love the idea of the new shake to shuffle feature on my iPhone OS 3.0
However, I think it is completely useless because of the following two shortcomings:
1. The actual iPod app has to be running or you have to get into the unlock screen and then activate the iPod controls for you to shake to shuffle. This is never the case as most of the time your iPhone is not plugged into power and we pretty much all have our iPhones set to auto lock after 1 minute of standby to conserve power. Since songs are longer than one minute, the iPhone will have auto locked by the time any song which you are listening to is done and if you feel like skipping past the next song that comes on, you will not be able to.
2. The shake to shuffle feature is not nearly sensitive enough.
Question is, has anyone found a hack for either one of these problems, especially the first? I would love to shake to shuffle while the iPhone is locked. After all, once your iPhone is locked and you have to click the home button to get into the unlock screen and then double click the home button again to activate the iPod controls, who the hell cares that you can shake to shuffle when you could just as easily at that point press the skip forward button.
I can't believe that Apple did not think of this, so if anyone knows of a technical reason why Apple chose not to go this route please let me know for my own education.
Thanks
