Yeah, I dont think you're supposed to use the activate option on 3g's..ever..or at least until it's unlockable.

do you have the latest .net framework installed? and also which OS are you on? maybe try moving the firmware to the C:\? not sure how or why that would help but sometimes that works for me with other programs.
